Clinique Acne Solutions Reviews – Is it Worth All the Hype?

Clinique Acne & Acne Scars Solutions, My Experience

by Christine GlasgowNovember 24, 2016

Another very popular acne cleansing solution that you will find in the markets today is Clinique Acne Solutions. I have to say, every time I go to my local supermarket, I find something new. Clinique itself is an established brand that has been producing a range of skincare treatment methods for many years.

The company currently provides a suite of different cleansing solutions that are designed for people who suffer from acne-prone skin. Again, just like the thousands of other companies that manufacture acne treatment solutions, Clinique also claims that its products are highly effective and will show results within a week (eye roll).

I can’t remember the sheer number of times that I have heard these statements in the past few years since I started reviewing skincare products. The company claims that its medicated formula (which contains 2% salicylic acid) can help eliminate acne breakouts and minimize the number of blackheads on your skin. In this review, we will test whether Clinique Acne Solutions actually stands up to the claims that it so ardently makes, or whether it falls short.

Clinique Acne Solutions – Delving In

Before I begin this review, let me say something:  from what little knowledge that I have about different chemicals that affect the skin, I should let you know that salicylic acid requires a considerable amount of time to work on your skin. It takes a while for salicylic acid to exert its blackhead-reducing and anti-acne powers. That said, you can’t expect such benefits from a product that you have to rinse off after five minutes (such as this one).

The company claims that it is a fast-acting acne solution that provides instant results. Of course, by instant, they mean a few days. It comes in a light-grey tube and is a cleansing gel with a clear, water-soluble texture. It creates a mild lather when you apply it on your skin. The gentle cleansing solution is designed to work well in removing the oils left behind due to makeup and the debris on your skin. The company clearly mentions that its Cleansing Gel doesn’t leave behind a dry or irritating effect on the skin, which I have to say is a nice gesture.

However, in truth, that’s not really true. Many, and let me emphasize this word again, many, have claimed that Clinique Acne Solutions causes allergy outbreaks and leaves their skin feeling extremely irritated and dry. Some claimed that the Cleansing Gel left itchy red bumps on their skin, while others, who were lucky enough to escape without any side effects, stated that they couldn’t see any visible difference after having used the product for quite some time.

I am sure that by now, you can figure out the stark contrast between what the company says and what people actually think about the product. The biggest problem that most people had with using Clinique Acne Solutions was that it caused acne breakouts, whereas the whole purpose of using this gel was to prevent acne breakouts.

You should know that there’s also a moisturizer available for you to use along with the cleansing gel. Almost every review online says that the cleansing gel is quite strong for people who have sensitive skin. Given the fact that virtually everyone who has acne on their skin suffers from sensitive skin, I have to say that Clinique pretty much botched their marketing campaign with this product.

Clinique Acne Solutions Reviews – My Opinion

I tried the whole set of Clinique Acne Solutions myself, just to see whether there was any truth to what people were saying about the product. Here’s my two cents about the product.

  1.   Not Very Effective. Well, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the product certainly isn’t as effective as the company makes it seem. I tried it for around two weeks, replete with the moisturizer and everything else that came with the package, and at the end of the day, I was certainly not impressed. There are definitely much better products available in the market that you can use to cure your acne outbreaks as compared to this one.
  2.   Marketing Mix-Up. In my opinion, the biggest blunder that the company made was to market its product as an effective solution against acne treatments. The fact is, Clinique Acne Solutions doesn’t contain anything special that you can’t find in other, less expensive acne treatment solutions. Almost every product nowadays uses salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide for treating acne outbreaks.
  3.   Pricing. The 3-Step System promoted by Clinique sells for around $37, which is slightly more expensive than other treatment methods. Given the fact that you are required to use it on a regular basis, I have to be clear and say that this is going to put a dent in your wallet, especially if you stick with it in the long term. The small 50ml bottles do little to make you feel that you have made a quality purchase.
  4.   Competition. I believe that the competition in the market is extremely intense, which is perhaps the main reason why Clinique hasn’t made such an impact. There are much, much better treatment solutions out there for taking care of your acne problems. Given the fact that this one actually exacerbates acne outbreaks, it’s easy to see why people are so unforgiving about this product.

Final Note

If you want to use a better, more viable product for treating your acne, I would recommend using Exposed Skin Care System. Or, if you can’t find that, then I recommend Zenmed Derma Cleanse. Both of these products have shown amazing results for me and for thousands of customers around the world. They are an excellent choice for getting rid of acne and pimples and are also considerably much more affordable.
